Cyber and Special Crime Division of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 13 individuals, including a child in conflict with the law, along with 316 stolen mobile phones, nine tabs, and a large quantity of mobile accessories from Gulistan area under Shahbagh Police Station in Dhaka.
The arrestees have been identified as Md Kawsar Hossain, 27, Tanvir Hasan, 23, Md Sagar, 32, Md Shamim, 29, Md Yasin Arafat, 25, Md Nur Al Hossain, 32, Md Dulal, 45, Md Jahid Hossain, 29, Md Liton, 18, Md Rajin, 19, Omar Faruk, 29, Md Kawsar Islam, 19, and a child in conflict with the law.
According to sources at DB-Cyber and Special Crime Division, a special drive was conducted on Saturday at around 7pm based on a tip-off on the footpath opposite BBCL office near Golap Shah Mazar intersection in Gulistan.

During the operation, 316 stolen mobile phones, nine tabs, and a large quantity of mobile accessories were recovered from their possession.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they were operating as an organised gang, stealing and snatching mobile phones from various parts of the country, including Dhaka Metropolitan area.
They subsequently bought and sold these collected stolen devices illegally on the footpath near the Golap Shah Mazar intersection in Gulistan.
Legal action has been taken against the arrestees, confirmed Md Akter Hossain, deputy police commissioner of Media and Public Relations Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
