The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed 28 Bangladeshi nationals into the Bangabari border area under Gomastapur upazila in Chapainawabganj around 3am on Thursday.
According to a BGB-16 press release, members of India’s 12 BSF Battalion pushed the group comprising 12 men, 10 women, and six children towards Bangladesh through border pillar 203/6-R.
After being informed, a patrol team from Bangabari Border Outpost (BOP) under Naogaon Battalion reached the area and identified the individuals at the zero line of the border.
BGB said the 28 people remain at the zero line, while the BSF has deployed additional personnel at various border posts.
BGB has intensified patrols and surveillance and is taking steps to return the individuals in accordance with international border laws and regulations.
Bangabari Union Parishad Chairman Sadikul Islam confirmed that the group is currently at the zero line and that authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
