Honor, on Sunday, March 1, showed off their capabilities with the Robot Phone as it looks to stand out among bigger rivals such as Samsung and Apple. The phone features a robotic arm that pops out of the main body of the device. This is not just an ordinary camera. This is literally a gimbal camera meant for making video recording easier.
The inspiration for the creation of this phone comes from DJI’s Osmo product. The camera is powered by a small motor and can lock onto an object or person and track it as it moves. The user can communicate with Honor’s AI assistant, with which the camera will respond yes by nodding and no by shaking.
The Robot Phone is created to show how companies such as Honor are looking to be unique in the trendy, similar-looking smartphones. It is meant to be expensive and will fall under the flagship category, especially in overseas markets like Europe. Regarding the availability of the phone, it will be available in the Chinese markets in the second half of the year. You can buy this robotic phone for $1091.
The phone will feature a 6.78-inch BOE Q10 Ultra LTPO AMOLED display with an adaptive 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate. The screen will deliver 2172 x 2352px resolution. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 octa-core processor, ensuring top-tier performance.
The camera is rated with 200MP and is equipped with a 3-axis mechanical gimbal with 4DoF motion control. The phone will have a 16GB RAM with a non-extendable 512GB memory. As for the battery, it includes a large silicon-carbon Blade Battery with a capacity of 6,000mAh.
