Pahartoli Textiles Limited, a spinning mill of Ispahani Group in Chattogram, has received LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council for its Production Unit-2, recognising its commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing through energy-efficient machinery, renewable solar energy and sustainable production practices.
The certificate was formally handed over on Sunday to Ispahani Group Chairman Mirza Salman Ispahani by Green Building Council Sri Lanka Chairman Mahendra Jayalath.
Ispahani Group Managing Director Mirza Shakir Ispahani, Director Mirza Ahmed Ispahani, Chattogram Development Authority Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain, along with industrialists, consultants, architects, bankers and senior officials attended.
Established in 1954, Pahartoli Textiles currently employs approximately 1,800 people across five production units, with an annual yarn production capacity of about 23,000 metric tons.
About 70 per cent of the company’s raw materials are sourced from environmentally responsible sources. The facility uses recovered exhaust gas from captive generators, has a rainwater harvesting system with a capacity of 1 million litres and a green environment with more than 12,000 trees, said a press release.
