Health officials on Thursday recorded 450 new dengue cases and at least one death in the past 24 hours across Bangladesh, with Dhaka division recording the highest number of patients admitted to health facilities.
According to a statement from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the 450 new patients, 102 were hospitalised in Dhaka division, 66 in Khulna division, 64 in Barishal division, and 51 in Chattogram division.
Furthermore, 44 cases were reported in Rangpur division, 19 in Mymensingh division, and 11 in Rajshahi division.
Within the capital, 50 patients were admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 43 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts this year, Bangladesh has witnessed 39 deaths, while the disease has affected 12,020 people.
In comparison, the virus claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people across the country last year.
Additionally, in 2024, dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people.
