Inde Navarrette’s breakout success in Obsession could soon lead her to Hollywood’s biggest franchises. The 25-year-old actor has revealed she is open to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe while meeting with some of the industry’s most sought-after filmmakers.
In an interview with Nylon, reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Navarrette said she would happily take on a Marvel role. “I would,” she replied when asked whether she would join the superhero franchise.
According to the report, Navarrette has already met with Jake Schreier, who is set to direct Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot. She has also reportedly met with acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann, who is assembling the cast for Heat 2, the sequel to his 1995 crime classic.
Asked which filmmakers she hopes to work with, Navarrette named Schreier and Mann alongside Sinners director Ryan Coogler and Barbie filmmaker Greta Gerwig.
The actor’s profile has risen sharply since starring in director Curry Barker’s horror hit Obsession, which has reportedly earned more than $400 million at the global box office.
Her next project is already complete. Navarrette stars in Invertigo, directed by Matthias Hoene. The film follows a group of reckless teenagers who persuade a young amusement park employee to let them ride a rollercoaster before its official opening. When a system failure leaves them stranded hundreds of feet above the ground, they must fight for survival as long-buried trauma and hidden tensions erupt into chaos.
Navarrette also addressed the possibility of an Obsession sequel. Although Barker previously told The Hollywood Reporter he already has “a really cool idea” for a follow-up, she suggested the story works best as a standalone film.
“I think the beautiful thing about it is that there is no sequel. I think it’d be cool if Curry did the anthology series that he was talking about, where each is a different wish,” she said.
She added that she would “absolutely” return for another Obsession film if it happened, but said she also “love[s] the idea” of leaving the story as a single movie.
