Newly revealed photographs and investigation documents have provided more details about Liam Payne’s final hours, showing the former One Direction singer drinking, interacting with hotel staff and meeting two women at his Buenos Aires hotel before his death.
The Daily Mail reported that it obtained more than 3,000 documents and photographs from the investigation into Payne’s death at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on 16 October 2024. The material reportedly includes an image of him swinging around a pole the night before and photographs of alcohol being taken to his room.
On the day he died, Payne reportedly met two sex workers in the hotel lobby. They later told investigators that he sang for them and asked about obtaining a narcotic substance.
Payne’s behaviour reportedly became increasingly concerning, prompting a hotel employee to call emergency services. The employee said he appeared at risk of harming himself while in a room with balcony access. Investigators later believed he may have been trying to leave the hotel when he fell from the third-floor balcony.
Payne had arrived in Argentina more than two weeks earlier while awaiting renewal of his US visa. He initially stayed with girlfriend Kate Cassidy and businessman Rogelio “Roger” Nores. Cassidy left for Miami on 14 October.
Payne had previously moved from the Park Hyatt to CasaSur after an incident involving damage to his room and a confrontation with hotel staff. The newly released material adds detail to the timeline but does not answer every question surrounding his death.
