Bangladesh Television’s (BTV) popular talent-hunt programme Notun Kuri is returning in 2026, opening its search for a new generation of young performers across the country.

Applications for Notun Kuri 2026 will remain open from 1 to 31 October, according to a notice posted on BTV’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

The programme aims to discover talented children and adolescents and encourage them to take part in cultural activities. The initial selection rounds will take place in different parts of the country, followed by divisional-level selections. The final round and grand finale will be held in Dhaka.

The competition will cover acting, recitation, storytelling and comedy, classical and modern dance, patriotic and modern songs, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, folk songs and Hamd-Naat.

Participants will compete in two age groups. Children aged six to under 11 will enter Group Ka, while those aged 11 to 15 will compete in Group Kha. Qirat will have a separate age category for participants aged 12 to 17.

Launched on BTV in 1976, Notun Kuri has long served as a platform for nurturing young cultural talent. Over the years, the programme has helped bring recognition to many artistes in singing, acting, dancing and recitation.

BTV’s official history confirms its long-standing role in promoting the country’s cultural development through television programming.
