Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta has opened up about her Durga Puja fashion, personal memories and emotional connection with the festival.

For Rituparna, Durga Puja is more than a four-day celebration. She considers it an important part of Bengali roots and cultural heritage, an attachment she has carried since childhood.

Her preferred Puja look is traditional yet elegant. She likes a large bindi, kohl-lined eyes and red-and-white or soft-coloured cotton sarees. She said she prefers simplicity over excessive glamour and likes to retain a personal touch in her style.

Rituparna said she rarely gets time to shop specifically for Puja, but her love for sarees continues throughout the year. Many people also gift her specially designed sarees, each carrying its own story and emotion.

She particularly values giving gifts to others during Puja. Her mother’s gifts were once especially meaningful to her. After her mother’s death, she said receiving something given with genuine affection reminds her of her mother’s love.

During the four days, Rituparna prefers no strict routine. She wants to spend the festival surrounded by conversations, love, joy and the worship of Goddess Durga.

“Durga Puja is truly one of the most beautiful times of the year for me. It is our cultural heritage and a part of our lives,” she said.
