Actor Nirab believes the film industry should work alongside the government to promote domestic tourism and bring audiences back to cinemas through big-budget, multi-starrer films.
Speaking at a ‘Meet the Press’ event at the Tourism Bhaban in Agargaon on Monday, Nirab highlighted the potential of destinations such as Sreemangal, Cox’s Bazar, Khagrachhari, Rajshahi, Barishal and Kuakata.
He said planned development and regular tourism carnivals could attract more local and international visitors.
The event, organised by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, was held ahead of the ‘Kuakata Tourism Carnival 2026’, scheduled for 23 and 24 October.
Nirab also expressed interest in reuniting with Shakib Khan, with whom he worked in ‘Mon Jekhane Hridoy Sekhane’. He said a strong story and compelling character would be essential for another collaboration.
He added that filmmakers, producers, cinema owners and booking agents must work together to revive theatres, expressing optimism about the industry’s future.
