After months of delays, Soldier is entering its final stretch, with Shakib Khan committing seven consecutive days to complete the remaining shoot.
Filming begins in Purbachal, Dhaka, on 1 October and is expected to wrap within the schedule, a source close to the film confirmed to TIMES. The team now plans to release the action thriller within this year.
Advertising filmmaker Shakeeb Fahad is making his directorial debut with the film, which he previously said would explore patriotism through the thoughts and realities of contemporary society. A 34-second glimpse has already hinted at corruption and syndicates.
The film stars ABM Sumon, Tanjin Tisha and Jannatul Ferdous Oishee alongside Shakib. An earlier Dilkusha shoot drew hundreds of fans. Shooting began last year with a December release target, but two planned schedules fell through, reportedly frustrating Shakib.
The team considered Bangkok for the remaining scenes, but the director said completing the film properly mattered more than rushing it.
Post-production will begin after the Purbachal shoot. October and December release windows have been considered, but no date is final.
Shakib’s two Eid releases this year were Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka, which opened in 133 cinemas on 21 March, and Rockstar, released on 28 May. Rockstar later premiered on Chorki on 23 July after underwhelming at the box office.
