Bangladesh stars Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam have been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for May 2026.
The two Bangladesh players made the shortlist after their strong performances in the Test series against Pakistan. Nepal all rounder Dipendra Singh Airee is the third nominee.
Mushfiqur played a major role in Bangladesh’s 2-0 series win. The veteran batter scored 253 runs in two Tests at an average of 63.25.
He made 71 in the first innings of the opening Test. In the second Test at Sylhet, Mushfiqur produced his best innings of the series. He scored 137 and helped Bangladesh take charge of the match.
His efforts earned him the Player of the Series award. Bangladesh went on to complete a second straight Test series sweep against Pakistan.
Taijul was the leader of Bangladesh’s bowling attack throughout the series. The left arm spinner finished as the highest wicket taker with 13 wickets at an average of 19.61.
His finest moment came in the second Test at Sylhet. Taijul bowled a long spell in Pakistan’s second innings and returned figures of 6 for 120. The performance helped Bangladesh seal the match and the series.
Taijul also made useful contributions with the bat. He scored 58 runs in the two Tests.
Meanwhile, Airee impressed in Nepal’s ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign. He scored 249 runs and took eight wickets in six ODIs.
The Nepal star hit a century against the United Arab Emirates and added two fifties. He also claimed 4 for 24 against the United States.
The winner will be selected through votes from fans and an ICC voting panel.
