Ansar and Village Defence Party members voluntarily cleared a key road in Sunamganj’s Tahirpur upazila, removing rotting water hyacinths, mud and waste that had caused severe hardship for locals.
The initiative, carried out on Sunday under the district commandant’s directives and supervised by the upazila Ansar-VDP officer, restored safe passage on the only connecting road in Firozpur–Mahatabpur–Mallikpur haor area.
Union team leader Shah Ali and Ansar Commander Hazrat Ali led the effort.
Residents said the road had been choked for months, making travel dangerous, especially during the monsoon.
“Ansar-VDP is always beside people in public service,” said Shah Ali.
Locals praised the voluntary effort as exemplary and said it has strengthened trust in the force.
