Kristen Bell has been announced as the voice of Amy Rose in the upcoming film ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 4’. The pink hedgehog, known for her affection towards Sonic, will be brought to life by the actress in Paramount’s live-action and CGI hybrid series.
Ben Schwartz, who voices Sonic, shared the news on Instagram, writing: ““WE HAVE OUR AMY ROSE!!! And I could not be more excited!!! Please welcome the incredible @kristenanniebell to the @sonicmovie family!!!”
Bell is a seasoned voice actor, best known for her role as Anna in Disney’s ‘Frozen’ franchise. She has also voiced a sloth in ‘Zootopia 2’ and narrated the CW series ‘Gossip Girl’. The actress first rose to fame in the 2004 teen drama ‘Veronica Mars’ and currently stars in the Netflix series ‘Nobody Wants This’.
Plot details for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 remain under wraps. Metal Sonic, the intelligence robot who appeared alongside Amy Rose in a mid-credits scene in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’, is expected to return, though no voice actor has been announced.
Previous entries in the franchise featured Idris Elba and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Knuckles and Tails, with Keanu Reeves providing the voice for Shadow.
In live-action, Jim Carrey reprises his role as Sonic’s nemesis Dr. Robotnik, while James Marsden and Tika Sumpter play Sonic’s adoptive parental figures.
All three previous films were directed by Jeff Fowler and have collectively grossed over $1 billion at the global box office.
Fowler is set to return as director for the fourth film, which is scheduled for release in theatres in March 2027.
