Khalilur Rahman, president‑elect of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), reaffirmed his commitment to an open, inclusive and member state‑driven presidency during meetings with European leaders in New York.
Khalilur, also Bangladesh foreign minister, met Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, and North Macedonian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Zoran Dimitrovski on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
He stressed the importance of close engagement and broad‑based cooperation with all UN member states throughout the session.
The leaders also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and discussed priorities for the 81st UNGA.
The consultations formed part of Khalilur’s ongoing outreach to member states ahead of the opening of the Assembly, underscoring Bangladesh’s proactive role in shaping the agenda and building consensus.
