Celebrated playback singer Rumana Morshed, popularly known as Kanak Chapa, is commemorating 35 years in the music industry, solidifying her status as one of Bangladesh’s most iconic voices.
Following in the footsteps of legendary singers Sabina Yasmin and Runa Laila, Kanak Chapa has lent her voice to over 3,000 film songs, many of which continue to captivate audiences across generations. Her remarkable contribution has earned her the National Film Award three times.
Beyond cinema, she has released 35 solo albums, showcasing her versatility and dedication to music. Adding yet another dimension to her creative life, Kanak Chapa is also an accomplished writer with three published books.
On her birthday tomorrow, she will share reflections on her illustrious career and personal experiences on Channel i’s special programme ‘Taroka Kothon’, appearing alongside renowned lyricist Mohammad Rafiquzzaman. The show will air at 12:30 pm.
