BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has congratulated winners of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, stating that it is a democratic tradition to congratulate all those who win.

I congratulate those who have won the Ducsu elections. It is the tradition of democracy to congratulate everyone,” he said.

The BNP leader, however, alleged that there were some “flaws and discrepancies” in the DUCSU elections.

He made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the Diploma Engineers Institute in Dhaka on Wednesday to mark the 47th founding anniversary of the Nationalist Women’s Party of Bangladesh.

Salahuddin, however, has rejected claims that the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed panel won the posts of Vice-President (VP), General Secretary (GS), and Assistant General Secretary (AGS) in the election.

“Islami Chhatra Shibir did not participate in the Ducsu elections. Those who have won are from the united student alliance. I congratulate them.”

Candidates from the “United Student Alliance”, backed by Islami Chhatra Shibir, won 23 out of the 28 posts, including VP, GS, and AGS, in the Ducsu polls.
