Due to the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (Jnucsu) and hall students’ union elections, all classes and examinations across all institutes and departments of the university will remain suspended on 6 January.
However, all university offices will remain open as usual.
This directive was issued on Sunday, through a notice signed by the acting registrar of the university, Professor Md Sheikh Gias Uddin.
The notice states that, to ensure the smooth conduct of the Jnucsu election, classes and examinations in all institutes and departments of Jagannath University will be suspended on Tuesday, 6 January, while offices will operate normally.
In a separate notice, it was further requested that, in the interest of ensuring a smooth election process, no one – teachers, officers, staff, or anyone else – bring personal vehicles onto the university campus on election day.
The Jnucsu election was originally scheduled to be held on 30 December. However, following the death of former prime minister Khaleda Zia, the university administration postponed the election through an emergency syndicate meeting.
Subsequently, in response to student protests, the university authorities rescheduled the Jnucsu election for 6 January.
