Jalalabad Cantonment English School & College (JCESC) has reached a significant milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence by signing a partnership agreement with the British Council today, 16 July 2026.
Under this new collaboration, the institution will introduce the British Council’s Primary English Test and Secondary English Test to benchmark the language proficiency of its primary and secondary students.
The partnership also establishes JCESC as an official IELTS Registration Centre, enabling students, teachers, and guardians to register for the IELTS exam conveniently through the institution.
The agreement was signed during a prestigious ceremony at the JCESC campus in Sylhet, attended by senior representatives from the British Council, the school Principal and Vice Principal, faculty members, guardians, and students from Class III to XII, read a press release.
Highlighting the significance of the collaboration, Mr Zunayed Ahmed, managing director and head of market-Bangladesh, British Council, said, “Our first-of-a-kind partnership with Jalalabad Cantonment English School and College brings benchmarked English assessments directly to primary and secondary students”.
He added that by fostering robust language proficiency from a young age, the organisations are paving the way for the next generation of global citizens.
The Principal of JCESC, Lt Col Md Arifur Rahman, psc, PhD, AEC, expressed his sincere gratitude to British Council for choosing the institution as a trusted partner.

The ceremony also featured an engaging presentation by Anika Bushra, Account Relationship Manager, British Council Bangladesh, followed by an interactive Q&A session. This allowed parents and students to discuss the long-term academic benefits of these assessments directly with the British Council team.
This partnership represents a shared commitment to excellence in English language education, aiming to unlock greater opportunities for academic success, higher education, and global engagement for JCESC students.
