Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said on Tuesday that the final list of the party candidates for the upcoming national election will be announced soon.
“The candidates will not be announced individually, but as part of an alliance with several parties,” he said.
He came up with the remarks while speaking to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Tuesday, upon returning to the country after performing Umrah and completing visits to the United States and the United Kingdom.
Differences of opinion among political parties are natural, but caution must be exercised to ensure that such differences do not escalate into conflict, Shafiqur said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Election Commission for including expatriates in the voter list.
“Although the EC has taken the initiative to include expatriates in the voter list, many are still unable to register due to technical issues,” he added.
Therefore, he urged the commission to extend the registration deadline by at least 15 more days.
