A group of students from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has reached a major milestone by constructing and operating their first electric formula car. After months of sleepless nights, tangled wires and countless tests, a sleek electric formula car finally came to life.
This accomplishment underscores IUB’s commitment to fostering student-led innovation and promoting sustainable engineering practices in Bangladesh.
The ‘IUB FormulaE’ team, from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) under the Green Energy Research Center (GERC), took on this ambitious project to design and build a fully electric formula-style racing car. Their efforts paid off when the vehicle successfully ran.
Celebrating the achievement on social media, the team shared, “The moment of truth, our car is finally RUNNING!” This statement reflects the team’s pride and excitement over their hard work coming to fruition.
The ‘IUB FormulaE’ team recently showcased their project at the 18th Dhaka Motor Show 2025, where they had the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and enthusiasts.
Unlike traditional race cars, this car runs fully on clean energy. The team hopes to refine their design further and represent Bangladesh in Formula Student competitions abroad, where university innovators from around the world test their creations on the track.
