BNP Central Election Steering Committee spokesperson Mahdi Amin on Friday said the victory of BNP in the 13th parliamentary election is not of the party alone, but also to triumph of the whole nation.
“After a long wait, people have exercised their franchise, delivering a historic message in favour of democracy,” he said while speaking to journalists in front of the BNP Chairman’s office in Gulshan.
BNP is a party of the common people, so the long-awaited victory does not belong to any individual or single party, he said.
“This is the victory of the people of this country, the victory of democracy,” he said.
“Today’s result is the outcome of a long movement, struggle, sacrifices and aspirations,” he added.
He said Tarique Rahman would fulfil the hopes placed in the party by the people.
“Under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, a transparent and accountable state will be established,” he said.
BNP is now stands on the sacrifices and struggles of many martyrs after a long democratic journey, he said.
Tarique Rahman will fulfil the expectations of the mothers of the martyrs and change the fate of every citizen, he said.
“We believe he will uphold the independence, sovereignty and democracy of this country,” he added.
