The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has fixed 17 December for hearing on charge framing over crimes against humanity against four senior figures of ousted Awami League government, including former ICT adviser and Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
The ICT-1 led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar set the date. The tribunal also ordered publication of a newspaper notice regarding Joy’s appearance before it.
Three other accused are Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former state minister for ICT; Salman F Rahman, former adviser to Sheikh Hasina; and Anisul Huq, former law minister.
On December 4, the tribunal accepted the charges against Joy and Palak and set 10 December as the date for the next hearing. An arrest warrant had already been issued against Joy on that day.
However, Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq were shown arrested for crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising last year.
Joy and Palak are being tried together in the case, with three charges brought against them. In another case, Salman and Anisul have been facing five charges.
According to the tribunal’s order, Anisul, Salman, and Palak—currently in prison—will be produced before the tribunal on Wednesday.
