A platform called ‘Justice for Iqra’ has formed a human chain against actor Zaher Alvi to protest the suicide of his deceased wife Afra Ibnath Khan Iqra.
Alvi and actress Iffat Ara Tithi have been named as accused in Iqra’s death. The participants in the human chain have called to boycott the two actors.
The human chain was held in front of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) gate at 12 noon on Wednesday (March 4). Many others, besides Iqra’s friends and wellwishers, participated in the protest. Demanding justice for Iqra, they kept raising slogans of ‘We want justice for Iqra’.
On Saturday (February 28), Iqra’s body was recovered by her family members from a house in Mirpur DOHS with a rope around her neck. Soon after Iqra’s death, news of Zaher Alvi’s alleged love affair with an actor colleague came to light.
Iqra’s mother, Rebeka Sultana, and other family members, alongside friends, allege that Iqra chose the path of suicide as a result of Alvi and Tithi’s alleged extramarital affair.
Iqra’s family has filed a case against Alvi and his mother as the main accused in this incident.
