Former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque has secured High Court bail in two murder cases filed over killings during the July uprising.
A bench of Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajol and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher passed the order on Tuesday after hearing his bail petitions.
Lawyer Motahar Hossain Saju told reporters there is now no legal bar to his release, as bail has been granted in all cases.
Lawyers Motahar and Monsurul Haque Chowdhury argued for Khairul during the hearings.
Earlier, on 28 April, the Appellate Division upheld his bail in five other cases, including charges of murder, verdict forgery linked to the caretaker government system, and corruption filed by the Anti‑Corruption Commission.
The High Court had first granted bail in four cases on 8 March, followed by another ACC case on 11 March. The state appealed to suspend those orders, but the Appellate Division rejected the plea.
Khairul was later shown arrested in the murder cases filed at Jatrabari and Adabar police stations.
He was arrested from his Dhanmondi residence on 24 July last year and shown arrested in the case over the killing of Jubo Dal activist Abdul Kaiyum Ahad in Jatrabari during the mass uprising in 2024.
