Hamza Choudhury, the Bangladesh-origin star footballer of Leicester City, has joined the country’s leading food and grocery delivery app Foodi. He has been appointed as the company’s new brand ambassador.
The partnership was formally confirmed on 5 May at a grand signing ceremony held at the Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel, attended by Foodi’s senior officials including Chief Operating Officer Shahnewaz Mannan and Director Mohammad Al Wasi.
Choudhury is currently in Dhaka for a brief personal visit, though the Foodi partnership formed a centrepiece of his trip. In his new role as goodwill ambassador, he will participate in various promotional campaigns and help raise the brand’s profile across Bangladesh.
Foodi, which is built entirely on local initiative, described the appointment as a significant milestone for the company. Officials stated that Choudhury’s emotional connection to his roots, his dedication, and his deep love for Bangladesh align naturally with the brand’s core values.
Speaking after the signing, Choudhury said: “I am joining Foodi, which is the fastest food and grocery delivery app built in Bangladesh. Just as I represent Bangladesh on the field, I am equally proud to stand beside a local brand. I am happy to be part of this journey with Foodi.”
Shahnewaz Mannan, Chief Operating Officer of Foodi Express Limited, said: “Hamza Choudhury is not just a footballer, he is a symbol of Bangladeshi pride and perseverance. Foodi believes in the power of locality, local talent, local initiative and local impact. Having Hamza as our brand ambassador is very natural and a matter of joy. He embodies the values that Foodi represents. We are delighted to welcome him to the Foodi family and firmly believe this partnership will inspire millions.”
