Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis chairman Moyeen Uddin Chowdhury has promised a fair Third Division Qualifying Cricket League, saying there will be no room for outside influence.
Chowdhury said players above the age of 25 will not be allowed to take part in the competition.
“We have set the highest age at 25. No player over 25 can play here,” he said at the inauguration of the tournament.
Questions have often been raised over fixing and outside influence in the qualifying competition, with two teams earning promotion to the Third Division.
Chowdhury said CCDM had spoken with umpires and all departments involved in running the tournament.
“There will be no opportunity for anyone to influence the matches, no matter how powerful they are. We will not allow it. The matches will be played 100 percent fairly,” he said.
The CCDM chairman also spoke about unpaid player wages in Dhaka club cricket. He said CCDM could ask clubs to clear payments and issue warnings after receiving complaints, but its main responsibility was to organise the competitions.
Chowdhury also confirmed that no decision has been made on bringing back the player by choice system for the Dhaka Premier League.
He said CCDM had started discussions with players and clubs and would make a final decision after hearing both sides.
