The government has appointed administrators to three district councils in Sirajganj, Chuadanga and Satkhira until elected district councils are constituted, according to an official notification issued on Thursday.
The appointments were made by the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives under provisions of the District Council (Amendment) Act, 2026.
The newly appointed administrators are Md Saiful Islam for Sirajganj District Council, Md Sharifuzzaman for Chuadanga District Council and Md Habibul Islam Habib for Satkhira District Council.
The notification said the appointments will remain effective until the respective district councils are constituted or until further government directives are issued.
As administrators, the appointees will exercise the powers and perform the functions of district council chairpersons. They will also be entitled to the benefits and privileges prescribed under the relevant laws and regulations.
The order took immediate effect following approval by the competent authority, the notification stated.
The directive was issued by the Local Government Division and signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Faisal Ahmed on behalf of the President.
