Glastonbury’s return after a fallow year has triggered huge demand, with tickets for the 2027 festival selling out in just 42 minutes despite reaching a record price, writes BBC.

Thousands joined the online queue from 9am BST on Sunday for the festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, which will run from 23 to 27 June. Weekend tickets cost £408, including the booking fee, marking a £29.50 increase from the 2025 event.

Organisers said demand “greatly exceeded supply” and confirmed that cancelled or returned tickets will go on resale in spring 2027. Headliners have yet to be announced, although organiser Emily Eavis previously said preparations were progressing well.

Coach-package tickets sold out in less than 30 minutes earlier in the week.

Despite the higher price, fans described the festival as worth the expense, while some successful buyers said the ticketing process felt fairer than in previous years.

Glastonbury last took place in 2025 and skipped 2026 for its traditional fallow year.
