After nearly five decades at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC), Mohammad Khorshed Alam, assistant to the art director, is set to bid farewell.

For 47 years, Alam brought countless movie scenes to life, shaping memorable moments for actors and filmmakers alike. Today, he will leave the bustling corridors of FDC to return home, as age and illness take their toll.
In recognition of his lifetime of service, colleagues and artists have come together to honour him. The Bangladesh Film Directors Association, Film Club and prominent figures such as Rumana Islam Mukti, Yamin Haque Bobby, Zayed Khan and producer-actor Munna Khan have all joined the initiative.
Film journalists have organised a farewell reception at FDC, scheduled for tomorrow at 5:00 pm. Journalists and film workers will formally pay their respects and support Alam in this final chapter of his professional journey.
Key organisers behind the event include journalists Mazhar Babu, Ahmed Tepantor, Rahat Saiful, Ranju Sarkar, AH Murad, Asif Alam, Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan and film producers Gazi Mahbub and Simon Tariq.
Mazhar Babu said of the initiative, “Upon learning about Khorshed Alam’s situation, film workers were eager to stand by him. We want to bid him farewell with respect and hope that artists and crew will join us to offer support in this final tribute.”
This is not the first time film journalists have honoured a longtime FDC worker. In January 2021, they organised a three-day farewell and financial support for Abdul Mannan Molla, a jhalmuri vendor at FDC since 1972, celebrating his contribution to the film community.
