A two-member delegation from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), led by Riley Palmertree, held a courtesy meeting with Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bangladesh, Md Ali Hossain Fakir, at Police Headquarters on Monday.
During the meeting, the head of delegation discussed providing assistance to enhance cyber capabilities of Bangladesh Police.
The discussions focused on several key areas, including tackling cyber scams, social media monitoring, combating financial crimes, and technology-based investigations.
The IGP emphasized importance of strengthening mutual cooperation and relations between the FBI and various specialized units of Bangladesh Police, specifically Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU), and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC).
Moreover, the IGP highlighted the need for increased FBI assistance in curbing rumours and fraudulent activities on social media platforms. Senior officials of the Bangladesh Police were also present during the session.
