Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has assured continued Chinese support for Bangladesh’s development efforts during a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Yao Wen paid a farewell call on the prime minister at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Secretariat on Monday.
“It was a farewell meeting,” Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu) said.
He said the prime minister stressed the need to further expand trade, investment and development cooperation between the two countries, along with discussions on issues of mutual interest, including the Rohingya crisis.
Yao Wen expressed hope that bilateral relations would be strengthened further and said China’s support for Bangladesh’s development efforts would continue.
The ambassador also congratulated Tarique Rahman on his participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and various programmes held in New York.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Investment Bangladesh Authority Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun were present at the meeting.
Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy Liu Yuyin accompanied the ambassador.
