A video of Lakshmipur Power Development Board (PDB) Executive Engineer Nurul Amin allegedly demanding bribes and engaging in related conversations has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread debate and criticism in the district.
Since Sunday night, the 8‑minute‑50‑second clip of the bribery transaction has circulated on social media.
In the video, Nurul Amin is heard saying, “The AC sir has agreed, for some reason. I will not move from Tk2 crore. Tk6 crore is not triple — I will not budge below Tk2 crore. If I have to go to the chairman, I will.”
He further said, “If I take Tk2 crore for one bill, will the chairman go against me? He will give me the right posting. It’s simple math — for Tk300,000 worth of work, materials cost Tk30 lakh. So how much is he embezzling? Calculations show he has misappropriated Tk5 crore worth of materials. From that, give me Tk2 crore and I will sign everything.”
The video also shows him receiving cash from several individuals, though their faces and identities are not visible.
At one point of the video, he asks them: “How much is here?” One replies: “Here is 35, sir.”
Then he said, “One lakh thirty‑five.” The individual replied, “I already gave one lakh, sir.”
However, it has not been confirmed how long ago the video was recorded.
Attempts were made several times to reach Nurul Amin on his official mobile phone regarding the allegations, but he did not answer.
