Badal Das, 50, a photojournalist working for the Daily Nabachetona, has been missing from the capital since last Monday after receiving a phone call from an individual identifying as a Detective Branch (DB) police officer.

Family members and colleagues have searched various locations, but have been unable to find any trace of him.

Following his disappearance, Badal’s friend and roommate, photojournalist Fojit Sheikh Babu, lodged a General Diary (GD) with Paltan Model Police Station.

Confirming the matter, Ariful Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Paltan Model Police Station, stated, “A GD has been filed regarding the missing photojournalist Badal Das. We are working on the issue and trying to ascertain his whereabouts.”

According to colleagues, Badal’s mobile phone was found left behind in his room after he went missing.

Meanwhile, an unidentified caller phoned to inform them that Badal was in DB police custody.

Upon learning this, his roommate Babu contacted Motijheel Police Station and the DB office multiple times.

However, the police administration did not confirm detaining Badal, nor was any trace of him found at the DB office.

When subsequent attempts were made to dial the number used by the person claiming to represent the DB, the phone was found switched off.

Badal Das, son of Basu Deb Das, hails from Nutan Bazar village, 35 Sadar Road under Patuakhali Sadar Police Station.

At the time of his disappearance, he was residing at the Shishu Kalyan Parishad Building in Gulistan, Dhaka.
