East West University (EWU) hosted a seminar on research and higher education opportunities in Japan, where Japanese academics and education professionals discussed study pathways, research opportunities and career prospects for Bangladeshi students.
The seminar titled “Unlock Your Global Future: Research & Study in Japan” was organised by the Department of English of EWU in association with the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh on Sunday at the university’s Manzur Elahi Auditorium.
EWU Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Professor Mohammed Farashuddin attended the event as chief guest, while Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh President A T M Zafrul Azam attended as special guest. EWU Vice Chancellor Professor Shams Rahman chaired the seminar.
A delegation of Japanese academics and education professionals shared insights on research trends, English-taught degree programmes, Japanese language preparation and the process of connecting with potential university supervisors.
The speakers also provided guidance on pursuing master’s and PhD programmes, developing research proposals, preparing for academic careers and exploring employment opportunities in Japan.
The technical sessions featured Professor Shinjiro Ogita, Dean of Prefectural University of Hiroshima; Professor Hiroki Hamada, Director of Okayama University of Science; Associate Professor Miwa Abe and Visiting Professor Yoshio Maeda of Tokai University; Professor Daizo Kudo of Naase Viita Co. Ltd; and Kamamoto, Director of Study Japan.
An open discussion and question-and-answer session allowed students and faculty members to interact directly with the visiting academics and education experts.
