A day-long training workshop titled “Coding, Decoding of Exam Scripts” was held at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) for all faculty members across all departments.
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised the event on Tuesday at Gallery-2 of the university.
The training workshop was arranged to provide practical concepts and technological guidance on the coding system. Under this method, there is no scope to identify a student’s personal information on an answer script during evaluation, thereby eliminating any opportunity for teacher bias or partiality.
Furthermore, the system ensures transparency, neutrality, and precision in marks allocation, reduces script evaluation time, and enables the prompt publication of results.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony in the morning, Vice-Chancellor Prof Abul Hasnat Md Shamim said that the hard work, dreams, and future of a student and their family are deeply tied to the evaluation of exam answer scripts.
Emphasising the need for maximum transparency, he warned that a single mistake by a teacher could destroy a student’s entire life. He urged faculty members to examine scripts responsibly and to view teaching as a duty rather than merely a job.
He added that PUST is introducing coding—the latest technological method in answer script evaluation—to drive the university forward and elevate it to the next level.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Nazrul Islam noted that implementing coding and decoding will make script evaluation flawless, expedite result publication, and resolve various complexities.
Addressing the teachers, he stressed the importance of maintaining the continuity of the curriculum under which a student begins their academic life. He also called upon faculty members to submit answer scripts promptly and publish results using their utmost talent and effort.
During the event, Treasurer Prof Md Shamim Ahsan announced an increase in remuneration for evaluating answer scripts under the coding system.
Earlier, IQAC Director Prof Shamim Reza delivered the welcome address at the opening ceremony, while ICT Cell Director Prof Abdur Rahim conducted the workshop as the resource person.
