Disney is lining up a formidable 2028, with X-Men, Tangled, Incredibles 3, Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3 among its major theatrical releases.
The studio currently has 14 release dates in the Rentrak system for 2028, excluding 20th Century Studios and Searchlight titles.
If the schedule holds, the year could challenge Disney’s record $13.15 billion global box office haul in 2019.
The lineup opens with Pixar’s original Ghost Market on 10 March, followed by the live-action Tangled on 31 March.
Marvel’s untitled X-Men film arrives on 5 May, followed by the live-action Lilo & Stitch 2 on 28 May and Incredibles 3 on 16 June.
Ghost Rider, starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, is also set for 2028, although Disney has yet to announce a release date.
Black Panther 3 is scheduled for 15 December.
At D23, Disney’s major fan and entertainment showcase, the studio signalled confidence in Marvel, live-action adaptations and animation.
Three MCU films are planned for 2028, while Disney is continuing its strategy of spacing out animated sequels and live-action versions of classic titles.
The studio also teased the original animated film Hexed, while Frozen 3 remains set for 24 November 2027. Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 are scheduled for 2029 and 2031, respectively.
Star Wars is also getting a fresh push with Ryan Gosling’s Starfighter. However, the franchise faces pressure after The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed $345 million worldwide.
