The Election Commission (EC) will publish the updated final voter list on 14 May, EC Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md Ruhul Amin Mallick said on Sunday.
According to an official letter signed by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, instructions have already been sent to all upazila election offices regarding the preparation and finalisation process of the draft voter list.
The National Identity Registration Department will prepare a PDF version of the draft voter list for eligible voters-those born on or before 1 January, 2008-registered as of 31 March, 2026. The draft will be made available through a CMS portal link on 15 April.
Following this, the draft voter list is scheduled for publication on 20 April.
After the publication of the draft list, applications for inclusion of eligible voters, deletion of names due to death or ineligibility, voter transfer, and correction of information will be accepted until 3 May.
These applications will be processed by the concerned upazila or thana election officers and registration officers by May 6, while final decisions must be submitted by 10 May.
The updated final voter list will then be officially published on 14 May.
The EC directive also states that printed copies of the draft voter list must remain open for public inspection during the process. It further instructs authorities to make announcements before and after prayers through imams and priests at mosques, temples, and other places of worship to raise awareness and encourage correction of errors.
In addition, local cable operators and media outlets have been instructed to help publicise the voter list update process.
The letter further emphasises necessary measures to ensure inclusion of eligible voters, removal of deceased or ineligible names, voter transfers, corrections of entries, and elimination of errors or inconsistencies, including those related to gender and religion.
Authorities concerned have been directed to strictly implement these instructions within the given timeline.
