Three more people have died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 534 new patients were admitted to various hospitals during the same period.
According to the daily dengue report released on Wednesday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of deaths this year has reached 50.
From 1 January to 29 July, the total number of infected cases has risen to 14,690.
The report states that the highest number of new admissions in the last 24 hours was recorded in Dhaka Division (outside the city corporations) with 131 patients.
Additionally, 65 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka South City Corporation, 56 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 71 in Chattogram Division, 68 in Barishal Division, 45 in Khulna Division, 37 in Mymensingh Division, 30 in Rajshahi Division, 26 in Rangpur Division, and five in Sylhet Division.
Of the three fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, one patient was from the Dhaka South City Corporation area, one from Barishal Division, and one from Mymensingh Division.
Barishal Division currently leads the country in total infections this year, with 3,231 recorded cases. This is followed by Chattogram Division with 2,511 cases, Dhaka Division (outside the city corporations) with 1,938, Khulna Division with 1,879, and Mymensingh Division with 609 cases. Sylhet Division has recorded the lowest number of cases at 94.
Barishal Division also holds the highest death toll by division, with six fatalities reported so far.
Moreover, Chattogram, Khulna, and Mymensingh divisions have recorded six deaths each, while one death each was reported in Rajshahi Division and outside Dhaka Division. The two city corporations of Dhaka Metropolitan have collectively recorded 21 deaths.
Currently, 1,188 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country. Among them, 275 are receiving care in Dhaka, while 913 are hospitalised outside the capital. In the last 24 hours, 486 patients were discharged from hospitals.
An age-based analysis of the latest cases shows that the 26 to 30 age group is the most affected, with 92 patients. This is followed by 77 patients aged 16 to 20 and 73 patients aged 21 to 25. Among those infected in the last 24 hours, 338 are male and 196 are female.
