At least 20 people have been killed and 32 others wounded after United States and Saudi Arabian forces conducted joint air strikes against Iran-linked “logistics and weapons sites” in Iraq, according to a statement released by the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF).
The PMF, in a statement posted on Telegram, confirmed that the attacks targeted facilities across the provinces of Baghdad, Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala, and Diyala, reports CNN.
The operations resulted in varying degrees of damage to several military headquarters, vehicles, and equipment.
In an earlier update on social media, the group’s 30th Brigade reported that seven air strikes hit key locations in the northern region of Nineveh at approximately 3:20am local time. These specific strikes resulted in 10 deaths and left six people wounded.
In response to the strikes, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi convened an emergency meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security on Wednesday, according to an official statement from his office.
