A youth was stabbed to death near the Pashu Hospital intersection in Satkhira town early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Zakaria Khan, 19.
Satkhira Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Shahidur Rahman confirmed the incident.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the incident took place around midnight at Robiul’s tea stall near the gate of Pashu Hospital.
An altercation broke out between a group of youths and the tea stall vendor over a tea bill. When Zakaria intervened to resolve the dispute, the attackers stabbed him in the chest and back with a knife. A tea stall worker, Bapi, was also injured with sharp weapons.
Locals rescued the two injured men and took them to the emergency department of Satkhira Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Zakaria dead.
Police inspected the crime scene on Friday night and are examining CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
OC Shahidur said all those involved would be identified and brought to justice swiftly.
