A youth died after being electrocuted while working at an under-construction building in Basail upazila of Tangail on Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Rayhan, 20, a mason by profession.
Basail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Kabir confirmed the incident.
The incident took place around 10am at a two-storey building near the Proshika office in Ward No. 8 of Basail paurashava.
According to police and locals, Rayhan was lowering an iron rod from the second floor when it came into contact with a live electric wire, electrocuting him and knocking him unconscious.
Co-workers rescued him and took him to Basail Upazila Health Complex, where a doctor declared him dead.
OC Alamgir said police visited the construction site and the hospital after receiving the news.
Following a written application from Rayhan’s father, the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy.
