Bangladesh ended their Asian Games men’s hockey campaign in seventh place after a 3-0 win over Thailand in Japan on Saturday.

The place deciding match took place at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium.

Bangladesh made a quick start. Roman Sarker opened the scoring in the third minute to give Peter Gerhard’s side an early lead.

They stayed in control and added their second goal in the 27th minute. Amirul Islam converted a penalty corner to make it 2-0.

Thailand could not find a way back into the contest as Bangladesh kept their lead until the final whistle.
