At least five more people have died of dengue, while 1,147 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest fatalities, the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease rose to 288 this year.
Among the new hospitalisations, 132 patients were in Barishal division, 98 in Chattogram, 266 in Dhaka division, 59 in Khulna, 65 in Mymensingh, 70 in Rajshahi (excluding city corporations), 284 in Dhaka North City Corporation, and 145 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
During the same period, 1,042 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total recoveries this year to 69,452.
As of Monday (3 November), Bangladesh has recorded 72,822 dengue cases, with 62.2% male and 37.8% female patients.
In 2024, the country reported 111,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths, while in 2023, there were 321,179 hospitalisations and 1,705 deaths due to dengue.
