Four more people have died from dengue in the country in the last 24 hours. With this, the total death toll from dengue this year has reached 263.

During the same period, 1,143 new dengue patients have been admitted to various hospitals across the country. This information was provided in the daily report sent on Sunday from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The report stated that among the patients admitted in the last 24 hours, 282 are in Dhaka and 861 are outside Dhaka. Among these, 186 were admitted in Barisal division, 121 in Chattogram, 65 in Khulna, 56 in Mymensingh, 56 in Rajshahi, 50 in Rangpur, and 8 in Sylhet division.

Meanwhile, among the deceased, two are from Barisal division, one from Dhaka South, and one from Rajshahi division.

DGHS reported that from 1 January of this year until now, the total number of dengue patients admitted to hospitals in the country has reached 65,440.

Experts are emphasising increasing public awareness, destroying mosquito breeding grounds, and ensuring rapid medical treatment to control dengue.

2023 was especially deadly, with a total of 1,705 dying from the disease and a total of 321,179 people were admitted to hospitals after being infected between 1 January and 31 December.
