Registration has begun for the Emlino DiaBeat Run, a 7.5-kilometre awareness marathon to be held at Hatirjheel on 14 November, World Diabetes Day. The event aims to raise diabetes awareness and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
The run is organised by ACME’s DiaCare, an initiative of The ACME Laboratories Ltd. Registration is open to the general public, said a press release on Thursday.
The ACME Laboratories Ltd Chairman Nagina Afzal Sinha and Managing Director Tasneem Sinha attended an event organised on the occasion. Tasneem Sinha welcomed the public-welfare initiative and shared practical experiences on how diabetes affects daily life and how regular walking can help keep it under control.
Dr Uzzwal Kumar Mallick, a long-distance runner and founder of Doctors Run, said, “Diabetes is a long-term health condition that can largely be kept under control through the right lifestyle and physical activity. At least 30 minutes of walking or jogging daily significantly reduces the risk of diabetes, and marathons of this kind will inspire ordinary people to step outside and become active.”
