Mehidy Hasan Miraz followed up his three-wicket haul on CPL debut with four more as Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Trinbago Knight Riders by six wickets in Providence. The Bangladesh allrounder was named Player of the Match and celebrated with his trademark ‘Nagin dance’.
After being introduced in the fifth over, Miraz dismissed Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran off successive deliveries. He later bowled Jyd Goolie and Sunil Narine to finish with 4 for 23 from four overs.
Trinbago were restricted to 126, with Justin Greaves top-scoring with 35. Shamar Joseph took two wickets, while Imran Tahir claimed one.
Guyana reached the target in 18.4 overs. Shai Hope anchored the chase with an unbeaten 42, while Shimron Hetmyer made 28 off 19. Miraz managed only two runs from 14 balls.
The win was Guyana’s eighth in nine matches, keeping them top of the table.
“It’s a great moment for me. This is my first CPL and winning the Player of the Match award makes it even more special. I really enjoyed the game,” Miraz said.
“I tried to bowl in the right areas and take wickets. I knew the wicket was turning a little and would help the spinners,” he added.
