Bangladesh and Pakistan have underscored the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy through regular dialogue, exchanges of parliamentary delegations, and enhanced people‑to‑people contacts to deepen bilateral ties.
The emphasis came during a bilateral meeting Monday between Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP, who led the Bangladesh parliamentary delegation, and Pakistan National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
The meeting was held on the eve of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Cape Town, South Africa, reports BSS.
According to a press release from the parliament secretariat, the two leaders discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.
Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal invited Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time, while the Pakistani speaker extended invitations to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Bangladesh to visit Pakistan.
The meeting was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, with members of both parliamentary delegations present.
