Renowned actor and Nirapad Sarak Chai (We Demand Safe Roads) movement founder Ilias Kanchan is currently receiving medical treatment in London, where he is undergoing regular radiotherapy sessions five days a week. The news was confirmed to the media on October 23 by his son-in-law, Ariful Islam.

According to family sources, the veteran actor has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and has been living in London for the past six months, receiving treatment while staying at his daughter’s residence. He is being closely cared for by his only daughter Israt Jahan and other family members.

Meanwhile, a special prayer gathering was held in East London on Thursday, marking Nirapad Sarak Chai Day, to pray for the actor’s speedy recovery. Members of the movement’s UK chapter and expatriate Bangladeshis attended the event.

Following the prayer, Ariful Islam shared that “except for Saturdays and Sundays, he visits the hospital five days a week for targeted radiotherapy.

Doctors are optimistic, and his condition is gradually improving. His long-time co-star and London-based artist Sonia is also in regular contact with him.”

He added, “Doctors have advised him to speak less for now. Compared to before, his health has improved slightly. We are all praying for his swift and full recovery.”
