State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin said a committee has been formed to verify genuine allowance recipients.
She added that lists of beneficiaries from the previous government have been handed over and are now being screened.
Sharmin made the remarks after the first session on the final day of the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Wednesday.
She said steps are underway to ensure allowances reach rightful recipients through the Government‑to‑Person (G2P) system, with fresh verification to prevent exclusion of eligible beneficiaries.
“We are making every effort to ensure all facilities reach genuine beneficiaries. Effective coordination between our ministry and the district administration will make this possible,” she said.
Sharmin noted that the Social Welfare Ministry and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs jointly work with more than 82 percent of the country’s population.
“Our main goal is to improve the quality of life of genuine beneficiaries and ensure their social protection,” she said, adding that discussions with DCs focused on completing tasks properly and addressing challenges.
